Machine Intelligence
AI history. I've pursued ideas about how knowledge is acquired. I've made progress in data compression. The idea that LLMs have human-like intelligence is misguided. John Searle revealed semantic errors in Turing's theory of symbolic intelligence. LLMs haven't solved the semantic problems preventing understanding.
Personal
The basic problem.
I was hoping for a quiet retirement. Problems arising now were caused many years ago after joining in 1969 the 1st Battalion, Commando Regiment, military intelligence regional headquarters, Victoria Barracks, Sydney.
Current challenge: getting wrongly withheld $150,000 in Superannuation from the New Zealand government. The report linked above as "the basic problem" quotes correspondence that reveals quite a serous problem of corruption in the Ministry of Social Development. Much has happened since, but still no wrongly withheld income has been paid.
Jurisdiction - coming.
