Machine Intelligence
AI history. I've pursued ideas about how knowledge is acquired. I've made some progress in data compression. The idea that LLMs have human-like intelligence is misguided. John Searle revealed semantic errors in Turing's theory of symbolic intelligence. LLMs haven't solved the semantic problems preventing understanding (so I argue).
Personal
I was hoping for a quiet retirement.
New Zealand desperately needs an anti-corruption commission. The current public service code of conduct prepared by the Public Service Commission sets moral standards, but when is it ever enforced? At the end of the day the PSC is part of the public service. There's a sort of inherent contradiction in this. I used to work for its former self the SSC after SSC offered me a job. We need an independent entity, one whose only job is investigating the public service.
In my 9-year MSD case, the public service has breached the code of conduct dozens of times. There's not much a person can do about it. I've sued the government twice. It's really expensive. Legal fees in one case were about $100,000. Though luckily I won (Business Associates v Telecom). The Public Service Commission has the power and duty to investigate serious code breaches.
Having made the allegations below, which probably quite a few people wouldn't believe, I'm just getting the evidence together. I've named people. They could ask that their names be removed. But that seems unlikely. Asking would just add more oxygen to the evidence.
